Equipped with tape, vinyl and contact paper artist Garry Noland creates these wonderfully colorful and textured pieces by including whatever happens to get stuck to the aforementioned materials. Noland presses tape to his studio floor picking up paint, old bits of tape and other floor debris embracing the unknown before collaging all of the elements together.

Photographer Daniel Kukla carried a large mirror and painter’s easel into the wilderness of southern California’s Joshua Tree National Park to capture the elements of the environment. Inspiration came as Daniel hiked through the desert capturing glimpses of where the Sonoran meets the Mojave; at the border of these two deserts emerges a distinct opposition of ecosystems known as the Edge Effect. Through his appropriately titled series The Edge Effect, Daniel creates a single portrait which unifies the two landscapes.

Inspired by the shapes in traditional American quilts, Lena Wolff collages each piece with paper and hand-cut painted pieces of watercolor and gouache or simply designs them with pencil. The triangle is commonly used in quilting, in Lena’s case the triangle successfully carries the eye through the design.
