Israeli artist <a href=\"http:\/\/beautifuldecay.com\/2015\/02\/17\/ron-arad-loves-crushing-fiat-500s-flat-disks-hang-gallery-walls\/\" target=\"_blank\">Ron Arad&#8217;s obsession with the Fiat 500<\/a> began when he father was almost struck while driving one. This\u00a0recent installation\u00a0series put on by the artist\u00a0exhibits a collection of flattened Fiats, which was achieved by using the metal press at a shipyard to crush each car to 12cm thick. The results are just surprisingly stunning.<br \/>\n2. <a href=\"http:\/\/dangerousminds.net\/comments\/the_last_of_the_teddy_girls_ken_russells\" target=\"_blank\"><em>The Last of the Teddy Girls<\/em><\/a> is a collection of photographs from Ken Russell portraying the girl gang subculture and their male counterparts\u00a0in a\u00a0post-war London of the 1950s. The portraits are a magnificent representation feminine style and independence.<br \/>\n3. I&#8217;m really loving these brilliant and colorful collages from artist <a href=\"https:\/\/instagram.com\/annaovni\/\" target=\"_blank\">Anna Ovni<\/a>; could perhaps inspire a future leather design binding.<br \/>\n4. Check out this beautifully illustrated 15th century manuscript of Claudius Ptolomaeus&#8217; <a href=\"http:\/\/gallica.bnf.fr\/ark:\/12148\/btv1b8454687p\/f1.planchecontact.r=venice.langEN\" target=\"_blank\"><em>Cosmographia<\/em><\/a>.<br \/>\n5. In this case, the wooden book boxes store wooden objects. These objects were particularly popular in Germany in the late 18th to early 19th centuries.\u00a0Xylotheks are a surprising discovery for me and are quite interesting\u00a0objects.<br \/>\n7. Every year new words\u00a0are added to the dictionary, so it only makes sense that new hand gestures\u00a0would make their way into\u00a0American Sign Language. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hopesandfears.com\/hopes\/now\/internet\/168477-internet-american-sign-language\" target=\"_blank\">Read the fascinating article<\/a> and see the signs\u00a0that represent words or phrases like: selfie, photobomb, and food coma.<br \/>\n8. Charles Young is the paper engineer behind <a href=\"http:\/\/www.paperholm.com\" target=\"_blank\">Paperholm<\/a>: a growing paper city. The best part is that many of these miniature building models are animated. I love the detail and quirkiness behind the project.<br \/>\n9. I recently stumbled upon this phenomenon referred to as <a href=\"http:\/\/digg.com\/2015\/kawaii-cuisine-tiny-food-miniature-space\" target=\"_blank\">kawaii cuisine<\/a> coming out of both Japan and Denmark. Each of these cooks are creating itty bitty foods using plastic doll cooking equipment and candles to cook the food. Reality\u00a0can be a bit bizarre some times.<br \/>\n10. In the early 1900s, Thomas Cobden-Sanderson <a href=\"http:\/\/creativereview.co.uk\/cr-blog\/2015\/february\/recovering-the-doves-type\" target=\"_blank\">threw 2,600lbs of his bespoke typeface Doves Type into the Thames<\/a>. For the past three years designer Robert Green has been trying to recreate this lost typeface. After thorough research, Green discovered the spot where the coveted type was tossed into the murky waters. Green was able to uncover a total of 150 pieces, just a small portion, but enough to help him finish the digital version.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>1.
