French-style fine binding with laced-in boards. Bound in light buffalo skin with back-pared embroidered onlays cut from handmade papers, buffalo skin and goatskin. Title embroidered with cotton floss. Leather wrapped endbands in mauve buffalo skin with bright blue cotton floss wraps. Pink handmade paper paste down with marbled paper onlay. Handmade paper flyleaves in mustard from Katie MacGregor.

Book is housed in a clamshell box covered in mauve buffalo skin and pale yellow handmade paper from Katie MacGregor. Leather spine embroidered with title in cotton floss. Trays covered in raspberry Canapetta bookcloth and lined with olive green suede.

Inspired by the print achievements made through wood type, I created a colorful, bold design in leather, paper and embroidery using a page pulled from the catalog. The book’s title incorporates two very famous typefaces: Bifur and Garamond recreated through paper onlays and embroidery. The title is accompanied by a playful bark beetle, also known as a typographer.
